Stoddard is a small New England town located in the northeast corner of Cheshire County in New Hampshire.  It is bordered on the north by Washington, to the east by Antrim and Windsor, to the south by Nelson, and to the west by Sullivan, Gilsum and Marlow.  It is approximately 19 miles from Keene.  

Stoddard was incorporated in 1774.  It was known for its manufacturing of wood products.  It was also home to four glass factories which manufactured items such as the collectible Stoddard bottles.

Stoddard is comprised of 50.9 square miles of land and 2.1 square miles of water.  It is home to Highland Lake and Island Lake, attracting seasonal residents from spring through fall.  The town is traversed by the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway on the west part of town, by Center Pond.  

Stoddard has a rich history with many historical homes and buildings from the late 1700’s.   These historical properties include the Stoddard Town Hall, the Nathan Gould House, the Davis House, the Loomis-Hadley House, the Messenger House, the Nathan Morse House, the Stoddard Congregational Church, The Old Parsonage, and The White House – a cape code house that is the oldest historical house at the center of Stoddard. 

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Stoddard’s population at the time included 928 people, 268 families and 400 households.  The average family size was 2.75 and the average household size was 2.32.
