Danville is located in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. It is a short distance to the seacoast and the mountains. It is near the cities of Boston, Manchester, Plaistow and Salem. The northern third of the town lies within the Piscataqua River watershed, and the southern two-thirds lies within the Merrimak River watershed. Danville was first settled in 1694 and chartered in 1760 as Hawke. It was renamed Danville and incorporated in 1836. It is home to the oldest original construction meeting house still standing in New Hampshire, the Hawke Meeting House. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2007, it was estimated that real estate in Danville was comprised of a total of 1,687 homes. This included 1,233 single family houses and 117 multi-unit homes.
